About the call

The call works towards the objectives of the European Climate Law: reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels, by 90% by 2040, and achieving climate neutrality by 2050. Budget: EUR 28 million, approximately 12 projects.

Objectives

  • Develop, demonstrate and promote innovative techniques, methods and approaches to achieve the objectives of EU climate legislation.
  • Expand the knowledge base and support the adoption of best practices.
  • Catalyse large-scale uptake of successful solutions by mobilising investment.

What is funded (areas of intervention)

  • Energy and industrial processes: solutions with measurable emission reductions.
  • Transport: decarbonisation of transport modes, intermodality, smart charging infrastructure for zero-emission transport, 700-bar hydrogen refuelling stations.
  • Agriculture and emission reductions in food systems.
  • Land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF), including carbon farming under the CRCF Regulation.
  • Fluorinated gases and ozone-depleting substances: recovery, reclamation and recycling, deployment of low global-warming-potential alternatives in refrigeration equipment and heat pumps.
  • Industrial solutions for carbon removal, CO2 capture, utilisation and storage.

Conditions

  • Call budget: EUR 28 million (~12 projects)
  • Grant size: approximately EUR 1-5 million
  • Co-financing rate: up to 60%
  • Duration: 24-120 months
  • Note: projects may be close-to-market - in that case the application must include market information: planned production capacity, reference market, economic indicators
