About the call

The second-largest standard call in the programme - EUR 79 million. It covers two of the sub-programme's three priority areas: circular economy and waste, and zero pollution and sustainable management of natural resources. This is the thematically broadest call in the environmental strand of LIFE.

Objectives

  • Develop, demonstrate and promote innovative techniques, methods and approaches to achieve the objectives of EU environmental legislation.
  • Improve the knowledge base and support the application of best practices.
  • Catalyse the large-scale deployment of successful technical and policy solutions by mobilising investment.

What is funded

  • Waste and secondary raw materials: prevention, reuse, repair, separate collection, recycling, secondary raw material chains, critical raw materials.
  • Water: surface and groundwater quality, wastewater treatment, water conservation, micropollutants.
  • Air: reducing pollutant emissions, urban air quality.
  • Soil: preventing degradation, remediation of contaminated sites.
  • Noise: reducing noise pollution.
  • Chemicals: safe-and-sustainable-by-design alternatives, reducing exposure to hazardous substances.
  • Sustainable production and consumption: eco-design, extending product lifecycles, digital product passport.

Conditions

  • Call budget: EUR 79 million
  • Co-financing rate: up to 60%
  • Duration: usually 3-5 years
  • Consortium: not mandatory
