Standard Action Projects (SAPs) for Nature and Biodiversity - Governance and Information
The second priority area of the sub-programme - not the physical restoration of nature, but the quality of its governance: awareness, compliance assurance and access to justice in cases concerning nature and biodiversity legislation. The budget is considerably more modest - EUR 7.5 million.

About the call
The second priority area of the sub-programme - not the physical restoration of nature, but the quality of its governance: awareness, compliance assurance and access to justice in cases concerning nature and biodiversity legislation. The budget is considerably more modest - EUR 7.5 million, meaning this call will fund a small number of projects, but the competitive dynamics are also structurally different from the large NATURE call.
Objectives
- Support the development, implementation, monitoring and enforcement of EU nature and biodiversity legislation.
- Improve governance at all levels by strengthening the capacity of public and private actors.
- Engage civil society, including through citizen science.
What is funded
- Awareness-raising and behaviour-change campaigns for target groups.
- Educational programmes and training for professionals.
- Work with the judiciary, prosecution services and environmental inspectorates.
- Monitoring platforms involving communities and volunteers.
- Institutional capacity building for bodies responsible for nature legislation.
- Ensuring access to justice in environmental cases.
Conditions
- Call budget: EUR 7.5 million
- Co-financing rate: up to 60%
- Applicants: public authorities, NGOs, think tanks, universities; a consortium is not mandatory
