On 30 July 2026, Lviv Polytechnic National University held a hybrid info session «LIFE Programme 2026: opportunities for Ukrainian organisations», organised within the implementation of the LIFE25-CAP-UA-InCL-U-DE project. The project «Integration through Capacity Building of the LIFE Programme for Ukraine's Durable Engagement» is implemented with the support of the European Union under the LIFE Programme, Grant Agreement No. 101234369. Lviv Polytechnic National University is the project coordinator, the All-Ukrainian Environmental League is the beneficiary partner and the Ministry of Economy and Environment of Ukraine is the associated partner.
The event attracted considerable interest among Ukrainian professionals: more than 250 people registered, and around 200 representatives of universities, research institutions, national and local authorities, national nature parks, NGOs, businesses and other organisations interested in LIFE opportunities joined online and on site.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by representatives of the project partners: the coordinator of the LIFE25-CAP-UA-InCL-U-DE project, Professor Myroslav Malovanyi, Doctor of Sciences, Head of the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Environmental Management at Lviv Polytechnic; Olha Nahnybida, Head of the Division for Analysis, Exchange and Implementation of International Experience in Environmental Protection at the Ministry of Economy and Environment of Ukraine; and Tetiana Tymochko, Chair of the All-Ukrainian Environmental League.
The moderator of the event, Nazariy Andrushchak, PhD, Associate Professor and Head of the Project Office of Lviv Polytechnic, presented the LIFE25-CAP-UA-InCL-U-DE project, its aim, objectives and role in building a national support system for potential LIFE Programme applicants in Ukraine.
Yaryna Voronych, Senior Specialist of the Project Office of Lviv Polytechnic, introduced participants to the structure of the LIFE Programme, its sub-programmes, project types, funding opportunities and the general conditions for the participation of Ukrainian organisations.
A separate thematic block addressed the definition of national priorities in key areas and their alignment with the LIFE sub-programmes, presented by Tetiana Tymochko, Chair of the All-Ukrainian Environmental League.
A practical overview of the LIFE Calls 2026 was given by Vita Horak, PhD, Senior Specialist of the international projects support group of the Project Office of Lviv Polytechnic. The presentation covered the current call opportunities open to Ukrainian organisations in 2026, call types, key deadlines, indicative budgets, co-funding rates and consortium requirements.
The final presentation, on preparing for the LIFE 2026 calls, was delivered by Nazariy Andrushchak, Head of the Project Office. It focused on the steps from a project idea to proposal submission, choosing a relevant call, analysing the conditions of a specific topic, building partnerships and planning a future proposal.
The info session concluded with a discussion in which participants received answers to questions on selecting calls, participation opportunities for Ukrainian organisations, consortium building and further support within the LIFE25-CAP-UA-InCL-U-DE project.
Summing up the event, the organisers highlighted the importance of systematic preparation of Ukrainian organisations for LIFE Programme calls, the development of cross-sectoral partnerships and the strengthening of Ukraine's capacity to attract European Union funding in the fields of environment, climate, circular economy and the clean energy transition.
More information events, consultations and training activities within the LIFE25-CAP-UA-InCL-U-DE project lie ahead, aimed at supporting Ukrainian organisations in preparing to take part in the LIFE Programme.
