Clean Energy Transition · Standard Action Project
ENABLE DHC
Enabling strategies and investment plans for efficient, multi-energy and digitalized DHC
About the project
ENABLE DHC helps district heating and cooling networks switch to efficient systems as defined in the Energy Efficiency Directive, with a focus on digitalisation, investment risk assessment and sector coupling. It develops nine case study investment plans in seven countries (Austria, Croatia, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Slovenia and Ukraine), linked to DHC working groups and a Case Study Assembly of operators, and supports 18 follower case studies. Replication includes 7 national workshops, 3 pan-European webinars, a mid-term policy workshop and a final event, while 7 national policy roadmaps and a blueprint for action are prepared with public authorities. Within the project period the action is expected to trigger around 654 GWh a year of renewable energy generation and almost EUR 100 million of sustainable energy investment.

Ukrainian participation
Ukraine hosts two of the nine case studies, in Stryi and Poltava. The Lviv-based City Institute coordinates the Ukrainian participation and knowledge exchange and adapts the results for Lviv; the Stryi case study is prepared with the local utility Stryiteploenergo.
