About the project
Since 2022 Ukraine's energy infrastructure has suffered heavy damage, making the restoration of clean energy services a priority. ANEW-LIFE sets guidelines and creates conditions for green energy initiatives at municipal level, combining clean energy and financing partners to help Ukrainian cities develop and deliver their own energy strategies together with citizens, local institutions and NGOs. It runs capacity building and identifies financing mechanisms such as green bonds, donor funding, public-private partnerships, crowdfunding and energy communities. The bottom-up approach is validated in three lighthouse cities and replicated in 10 further Ukrainian and 10 EU cities, and municipal feedback feeds a catalogue of clean energy solutions paired with financing measures.

Ukrainian participation
Ukraine is the project's main target country, with six Ukrainian participants including NGOs and three municipal bodies. Zhytomyr, Kalush and Nizhyn are the lighthouse cities; four of the ten Ukrainian replication cities have signed letters of support. In May 2026 DiXi Group held workshops on energy project development for the communities of Zhytomyr, Kalush and Nizhyn.
